Art Container Project

The Art Container Project is organized by MIA (Mere Independent Artists) in 2007. After the first departure in 2008, 37 art containers as art ambassadors of Hong Kong carried their own goods and started their journeys around the world. In 2014, MIA is closing the event and trying to make another journey for the art containers.

Content:
In 2008, MIA (Mere Independent Artists) made an attempt to open up more discussions about the development of Hong Kong art by organising the Art Container Project. Since then, Hong Kong has seen some special changes including the art programmes of M+ of the West Kowloon Cultural District, the setting up of new branches by international art galleries and hosting of large-scale exhibitions, the government’s initiative in the promotion of art to the community, and art education programmes at different levels offered by universities and institutions. Where is Hong Kong art going? This forum will provide a free platform for the discussion of the present and future of Hong Kong art.

Guest speakers:
Chan Kam-shing, Chris (Member of Hong Kong Arts Development Council and artist of Art Container Project)
Cheng Chi-ming, Carl (Documentation Exhibition Curatorial Team Leader and artist of Art Container Project)
Cheung Wai-sum, Eddie (Curator of Art Container Project Art Exhibition)
Dr. Ho Siu-kee (Associate Professor and Programme Director of MVA at Baptist University)
Dr. Lesley Lau (Director of Art Promotion Office)
Isabella Tam (Assistant Curator of M+)

Moderator: Dr. Tang Ying-chi (Convener of Art Container Project)
